I cheated the first wheel. Spokes were good so I went with them. I taped the new rim to the old rim and moved spoke by spoke over.
I would have done this if I could for the SSCX bike, however the person that built up the wheel used a 135mm OLD hub on a bike with 130mm OLD dropouts. Would have saved me a lot...

That BMW RR is a sick bike, I wish I could afford to race prep one of those.
One of the shots looks a little weird… he drops a knee on what seems to be a low speed, rather wide corner… but man do I agree with you. I miss my motorcycle quite a bit…

I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

I wish that I had let myself be happier.

Hahaha Well he didn’t shred the rim he lost the spokes but equally as bad. WOW thats impressive carnage. Time you buy a Micrometer and measure the thickness of the new hoop and put it someplace safe.
I didn’t need a micrometer to know it was really far gone… the wear indicators were worn off on...

Wow. What a trek!
It could have been much worse. The equivalent failure on the way to work tomorrow would have been a mile to the closest bus stop that would get me even remotely close to home.

I don’t recall if I posted this link before to you www.powe…. Scott will finish South America this week. He started in Miami via Alaska. I have got to know a guy that rode from key west to Anchorage. Blew the rear wheel twice.
Ooooooooooo the irony of receiving this now… (you’ll see in a second).

US racer Neil Bezdek in Bicycling Magazine
My power meter has recorded 363,000 kilojoules of work, a close approximation of calories burned. (This does not include warming up for races, commuting around town, or the occasional recovery spin when I simply delete the file.) My season’s workload is equivalent to running 139 marathons, and could be fueled by eating 1,450 donuts....

There can be a lot enthusiasm about Belgian cycling. I heard two good stories recently. A guy described how when he used to go to school in the morning a group of 40+ kids would meet up and ride. Everyone would take their pull at the front with the rest taking shelter from the wind. Those are some good skills to be picking up on the way to school. A girl told me how when...
Definitely have the bike touring/camping bug again
It’s been a while.
Was daydreaming and found myself itemizing, costing and weighing (literally) a list of what it would take to get a bike to bike camping/touring solution. Technology has come a long way since I last bought camping gear (1999/2000). I’ve got it down to the following list:
Eating utensils, cookware, stove, equipment
Sleeping bag
Sleep pad
Tent
Extra water storage...

this seems intriguing! cyclists of tumblr observe and maybe deem worthy?
This is a good idea. Thoughts:
Needs a stem clamp. Lots of phones are too big to be mounted on the handlebars. It seems that this would impact the design, but they’re design engineers, I’m sure they can come up with something.

God: Bender, being God isn't easy. If you do too much, people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing, they lose hope. You have to use a light touch, like a safe cracker or a pickpocket.
Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money.
God: Yes, if you make it look like an electrical thing. When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

SS Gearing on a 29er.
I’ve been pretty happy with my gearing on the Steamroller, and was wondering what it would take to get a matching build on a 29’er instead of a fixie. It was actually a little harder than expected just in the gearing alone. Conceptually, gearing is used to increase or decrease the distance covered by one rotation of the cranks. Increasing gearing increases speed, but also the torque...
